This is a well-established, family-run New Zealand business specialising in landscaping supplies and equipment hire. With years of experience supporting contractors, tradies, and locals, the company is known for its reliable service, quality gear, and practical industry knowledge.
Operating from a busy yard, the team prides itself on keeping everything running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. With growth in the region, they’re looking for a hands-on, motivated Yard Assistant to join their energetic team.
The Role:
Full-time temporary role to cover extended leave, with a real opportunity to secure a permanent position if you prove to be a great fit.
This is a hands-on, active role where you’ll be the backbone of daily operations. You’ll help maintain, clean, and prepare hire equipment, keep the yard safe and organised, and support both the field team and customers.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, working outdoors, operating machinery, and being part of a team that gets things done.
You’ll gain exposure to forklifts, diggers, trailers, and a variety of landscaping equipment – a perfect opportunity to build skills while staying active.
Hours of work:
- Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5 pm
- Saturday, 8:30 am to 3 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, inspect, and perform basic maintenance on hire machinery (mowers, diggers, chainsaws, etc.)
- Fuel, repair, and prep equipment for daily use
- Load and unload machinery, plants, timber, and materials for deliveries and customer pickups
- Operate forklifts, diggers, and skid steers/loaders to move stock safely around the yard
- Organise materials such as soil, mulch, gravel, and plants for easy access
- Keep the yard, depot, and warehouse clean, tidy, and safe
- Assist customers with enquiries, order collection, and loading
- Update inventory records and help with stock management

About You:
Experience with tools, machinery, or mechanical work will help you succeed in this role. You’ll enjoy getting hands-on, working with equipment, staying active, and taking a practical, reliable, and safety-conscious approach
To be successful, you must have:
- Forklift licence with F endorsement and current OSH forklift certificate
- WTR endorsements (Wheels, Tracks & Rollers)
- Full Class 1 driver licence with F endorsement
- Confidence towing trailers
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting, bending, and cleaning machinery
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a focus on safety and efficiency
