The Role:
As our new Building Services Engineer, you’ll be right at the beating heart of our operations, supporting the delivery of high-quality HVAC and building services across major commercial projects. Working alongside the Services Manager, you’ll be coordinating fire, electrical, and mechanical systems to bring buildings to life and ensure they breathe, operate, and perform flawlessly.
This role spans our key regions: Christchurch, Otago, Southern Lakes and Auckland, offering a unique chance to contribute across diverse landscapes and flagship builds.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver HVAC & critical building services from pre-tender to project completion
- Assess and advise on service designs during tender stages
- Work closely with subcontractors, site managers, and consultants
- Champion quality, safety, innovation and Zero Harm
- Coordinate internal service elements (mechanical, electrical, fire)
- Use your foresight to program, schedule, and drive results
- Track QA, timelines, budget, and subcontractor performance
- Lead with passion, integrity, and boldness — we do things differently here
Who You Are,
You’re a proactive problem-solver with:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- Experience in large-scale commercial construction
- Knowledge of HVAC, hydraulics, fire, and electrical installations
- The ability to read and challenge drawings
- Tech confidence (Procore, MS Project, Microsoft Suite)
- A strong understanding of NZ standards, the Building Act, and CCA
- Natural people skills — able to communicate, mentor, and lead effectively
