We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in Christchurch. They are looking for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join their production team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on fabrication work and wants to be part of a supportive workshop environment producing high-quality components and equipment.
The Role
In this position, you will be responsible for the fabrication, welding, and assembly of components, working with both steel and aluminium. You will be involved in interpreting drawings, assembling parts, and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
You will also work alongside engineers and the production team to help optimise fabrication processes and ensure efficient production.

- Full time + 40 hours + 7.30-4pm
- Competitive pay rate based on experience + $20 weekly tool allowance

Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication, welding and fitting of components
- MIG and TIG welding of aluminium and steel
- Assembly and fitting of fabricated components
- Working with pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps and mechanical components
- Reading and reviewing engineering drawings
- Maintaining a safe and tidy workshop environment
- Booking materials and labour to jobs as required
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to specification
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in fabrication and welding
- Experience working with steel and aluminium
- Strong MIG and TIG welding skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin due to job requirements
- Trade qualification (NZQA Level 4 or equivalent) desirable
