Our client is a trusted well established business in Christchurch with a reputation built on quality, reliability and customer service. They pride themselves on investing and maintaining a high safety standard and fostering a collaborative team environment. We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Leader to drive our health and safety systems across our Christchurch operations. 
  
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of health and safety across our operation sites.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain health and safety systems, including site inductions, SOPs, risk assessments, SWMS, and project safety documentation.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard identification, implementing practical improvements to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, manage corrective actions, and maintain accurate health and safety records and reporting.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by coaching staff, monitoring contractor compliance, and ensuring adherence to New Zealand health and safety legislation.
  • Partner with management to continuously improve health and safety performance while providing administrative support to strengthen business systems.

About You

  • Proven health and safety experience within New Zealand’s construction, manufacturing, or building products industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, risk management, and compliance requirements.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (NZQA Level 4 or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to influence and build positive working relationships.
  • A proactive, practical approach to continuous improvement.
